Even though we have specialized in genuine Antique French Beds for many years we also now create individual, handmade Headboards and Bedsteads to meet customers’ requests for wider beds.
Indeed we have recently made several 7’ wide beds.
When we are in the South of France on our buying trips we are always captivated by the charm of Provencal painted furniture - mostly blue/grey, a little rubbed and worn with maybe some faded white or gilt highlights. This is what we are striving to capture here in our workshop.

With the memories of the Luberon hills, Tapenade made from the local olives and the heady scent of herbs still fresh in our minds, we set about recapturing these shades of Provence.
We are lucky enough to have some of the best craftsmen in Ireland working for us; with their expertise and our knowledge and experience gained as antiques dealers, we have come up with these wonderful large Bedsteads and Headboards. They are very substantial. For this reason we have chosen as our model, the low ended, traditional bed from Provence, the Litoche.

These beds are not antique. They are handmade, but with constant reference to the authentic antique beds we have in stock. We follow the style tradition and quality of the antique beds but give them a modern edge that fits perfectly in contemporary bedrooms.

This Headboard is a ‘one off’

And as a finishing touch, somewhere on every French Warehouse custom-made bed, you’ll find a little brass bee. Napoleon chose the bee as a emblem of France and used it on his flags, furniture and tableware. We have drawn on this heritage and think it is fitting to have a little bee sitting somewhere discreetly on all our handmade beds.
