French-Warehouse has been trading since 1988.
We are Christopher and Heather Cowdy and we are first and foremost antiques dealers but our specialist field is antique beds.

Having a house in France and living there for a couple of years, we learnt our way around the trade and it was a natural progression to bring the most exciting pieces back to Ireland. Nowadays we spend our time commuting between the two countries.

French-Warehouse is a very tightly knit business. We do all our own buying and have excellent craftsmen and polishers "in house". We also, wherever possible, do our own deliveries, putting the pieces of furniture in place and making sure everything is in order.

Shipping overseas is no problem and we are usually pleasantly surprised by the reasonableness of the quotes!

Since our background is the antiques trade, we restore thoroughly, but sympathetically. This means no "dipping" or "stripping" of our furniture. Everything is cleaned by hand, removing the grime of 100 years or so but making sure, at the same time, to leave the many layers of wax polish that have accumulated over the same number of years. This patina is the essence of old wood and gives the piece of furniture soul and character.

It is not practical or desirable to use the original bed bases. We have upholstered bases made to our specification to suit both modern mattress sizes while at the same time being the correct height to look well on an old bed.
