Ref Napoleon III Armoire
UK£1300
Circa 1870

I have put the Armoire on this beds page because at the moment it is sitting in our showroom beside some of our beds from this Napoleon III period and it goes very well with most of them. The wood is warm walnut and is not at all fussy; in fact it is very mellow so it is not competing with the wood figuring in the beds, more complementing it. It is made from solid walnut.

The interior has adjustable shelves and one drawer faced with bird's eye maple. There is an exterior drawer in the 'skirting' under the door.

The Armoire is in excellent order and is sturdy and robust. We are antique dealers and normally abhor any interference or change. Originally the door had 'mirrored' glass but we felt that it was too forceful looking for this day and age and decided to remove the 'silvering' from the glass, whilst retaining the original heavy bevelled glass itself. We think the Armoire looks better like this; it can be used as a book case, toy cupboard, display case, linen cupboard, whatever. The essential thing is that if necessary it is possible to re-silver or re-mirror the door so we have done no lasting damage.

The dimensions are:
Height 87"
Width to widest 39 1/2"
Maximum depth;18"
Inside depth 13"

There is another image on this page and we will be very pleased to send more on request.
