This is a flamboyant, rococo, Louis XV style armoire.
It is made from walnut with a decorative walnut veneer. We call it
the 'Fan Armoire' because it has a pretty decorative veneer pattern
in the shape of a fan just under the crest.
Armoires from this period in time are not generally deep enough to
easily hang clothes. They were used for storing linen and folded clothes
in their time. We found this example in Bordeaux.
