This is the Decorative Litoche.
We make this version with deep wooden outer rails, as they would have been on the original French beds.
Because there is quite a bit of work in the making and fitting of the substantial wooden rails, we decided to go a bit further and we have added decoration and embellishment as might have been found on a French bed in the mid 1800s.

However we have been careful to leave the overall feel and presence of the bed just the same as the simple version. As if it was made in Provence many years ago.

We have added a little brass trim to the feet of the bed;
sourced replica antique bed bolt covers; and
added a little raised panel to the headboard posts to put on very small, subtle decorative brass mounts.
On the foot end there is a decorative moulded capping piece and not a little 'bobble' finial.
We have added these features through constant reference to the antique beds we have in stock.

Unlike most modern Beds our custom made beds are very substantial. For example this one is 5’ wide, 5’ tall at centre and 5’ 7” to top of side ‘Finials’.
This is why we have chosen this particular style of bed from Provence. The low end means that it is not too overpowering.

Finally, we have a number of different finials that we have had turned from the originals that we have had on our antique beds over the years.
We choose them when the bed is finished, as each bed has a different ‘personality’ and I think the finials do finish it off.
All our beds are made with care; they are a one-off.
