A solid, dining table made from walnut in the style known as Henri II, or Renaissance.

The leaves are perfectly correct and not added to at a later date. All French dining tables from this period, with a few exceptions, have the additional leaves made from an inferior wood. No French hostess would have dreamt of sitting her guests at bare boards. Whenever they had 'company' they always used a table cloth, so there was absolutely no point in having solid walnut leaves to match the smaller table.

What we particularly like about this table is that it will suit a small room very well indeed. It is not very large in the closed position, but when extended it will seat 12 people, or maybe even 14, as it measures 9'10" long.

The block under the leg (in the picture) was just temporary, until we replaced the foot.
