This rosewood bed would have been made during the reign of Napoleon
III when dark exotic woods were the height of fashion. Rosewood was,
as it still is, an expensive wood. Consequently the best craftsmen
worked with it. French furniture from the mid 19th century made from
rosewood is usually of excellent quality. This bed has lovely proportions
it is stocky and solid as a rock. It is a lovely colour and is in
very good, original condition.
