This is a large magnificent decorative Buffet made from walnut. It would have been part of the dining room ensemble of a reasonably well- to-do bourgeois French household. We do not have the equivalent in Great Britain and Ireland for the same period, a sideboard would be the nearest thing.

We found it in the chateaux region of the Loire Valley.
